This facility, which has been operating since the 1950s, is capable of producing 1.4 million tons of cement per year. As a leader in the local community, Roanoke Cement understands the importance of going above and beyond what is required. Initiatives like TRUE demonstrate Titan America’s vision to be one of the most economically, environmentally and socially responsible providers of construction materials. .

Zero waste initiatives implemented at Roanoke Cement include:

  • Grass cycling
  • Recycling of scrap metals, wooden pallets, and universal waste
  • Use of reusable transport containers
  • Collection of universal waste from employees

In addition to its TRUE certification, in 2018, Roanoke Cement became the first cement plant in the United States to receive ISO 50001 certification and has consecutively received the Energy Star Award since 2006. Roanoke Cement is well known for its involvement in the community and organizes events, such as the Catawba Creek Cleanup, the Botetourt County Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience, and many others.

Kevin Baird, president of Titan America’s mid-Atlantic business unit, said the certification is “an outstanding accomplishment and demonstrates Roanoke Cement’s commitment to the core values of continuous improvement and corporate social responsibility.”
